20/20 Gateway Devotional 2011

Every year for the past several years Gateway Church has put out a daily devotional to start out the new year. They are usually about 21 days in length. The devotional would consist of a booklet with a written portion and audio CD’s with the audio portion.   I particularly loved the CD’s because each daily devotion, usually running about 18 minutes would start with a new worship song, then go into a short message for each day read by Tom Lane a Senior Staff Pastor at Gateway. There is usually a different author for each day and many member’s of Gateway’s staff have contributed over the years.   In fact my wife Beth wrote one of the daily devotions a few years back.  At Gateway, the weekend messages coincide with the topic and the devotional is also the focus for the small groups that gather during the season. Also there is a church wide fast while going through the days. In all, it is a very precious time for the church to unify at the start of each year. I remember going through my first Gateway devotional and being so blown away with the quality and depth of each topic. It is a product that I would gladly pay for, but for a limited time Gateway offers it for free to all church members.

This year I had the great privilege to be part of the 2011 devotional. A song I wrote call “I Come To You” was chosen for the project and I was able to be the worship leader for that song. I also was able to underscore a lot of the music behind the readings. This was definitely a dream fulfilled for me and very close to my heart. Each underscore was composed spontaneously as I was hearing the reading and I was very passionate about letting the music flow with the words and to be a part of the journey for the listener.

For a limited time Gateway is offering this 35 day devotional absolutely free on their website at 2020.gatewaypeople.com.  You can download both the booklet and the mp3’s for each of the 35 days.  The devotional officially starts Monday January 10th.  I would love to invite all of you to participate in this incredible time with us and may God bless you as you dedicate this time to him.
