Last weekend Chad Whiteley (drums) and Darrell Wren (bass) laid down their respective instruments at Harbor House studios in Roanoke TX.  I knew I was going to be thrilled with their performances but they were truly inspiring.  When I went into the studio with them, I came with basic layouts and asked them to take complete freedom and add a piece of themselves to each song.  I am so glad I did.  The experience was truly rewarding for me and I really look forward to seeing how all this turns out.

Mitch Waddell who was the audio engineer plugged in his rig and laid some amazing electric guitar.  I also got to record a real acoustic piano for the first time ever which ironic since I have been playing piano for over 30 years.  The experience of recording live with other musicians brought out a side of my playing that I rarely get to experience.  It was also incredible to record with my beautiful wife, Beth.  I am very much looking forward to more of that.  She is a dream come true and awesome to sing and write with.  Overall the experience was awesome and I can’t wait to hear and share the final product.  I might just have to buy it on iTunes when it comes out.

My heart felt thanks goes out to everyone mentioned above as well as Conner Whiteley (Chad and Amy’s son) for being so entertaining and and all around great kid, my step kids Grant and Brooke for visiting and making us laugh.  Darrell’s son Josh for playing with the rhythm section and laying some reference guitars.  You’re are well on your way, keep up the great work.  And finally Cody for helping us with the acoustic reference tracks.  I can’t wait to mic your guitar and get some final tracks:-)
